Man charged in deadly shooting on Suburban Parkway in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Portsmouth police say a suspect of a shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured has been taken into custody.

Martario D. Gee was arrested Thursday night for an Oct. 27 shooting.

The shooting incident resulted in the death of 26-year-old Christopher A. Washington. Another man was taken to the hospital that night with light-threatening injuries.

Police an officer was Gee Thursday in a car on Green Street. The officer, who knew Gee was wanted for murder, stopped the car and took Gee into custody without incident.

Gee, 33, is now facing charges for murder, felonious assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

He is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.
