HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia State Police Trooper and three other people were injured in a crash on the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Thursday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m., a Trooper had pulled over a wanted subject out of Virginia Beach, and requested assistance. Trooper J. Hagwood arrived on scene and pulled in front of the traffic stop, on the right shoulder near 15th View.

Traffic started to slow down and a vehicle in the far left lane rear-ended the vehicle in front of it, then swerved and hit another car, pushing that car into the Trooper’s patrol vehicle.

The driver and passenger of a Chrysler involved in the crash were injured and taken to the hospital, but are expected to be ok.

Trooper J. Hagwood and the driver of the Acura 300 that hit his patrol car also suffered minor injuries. They both went to the hospital to be treated.
