PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Part of a Portsmouth building collapsed onto the sidewalk below Thursday afternoon.

Chief Mike Stockton with the Portsmouth Fire Department said fire units responded to the 800 block of High Street just before 2 p.m. The building is a vacant storefront.

He said it was a small 3×3 foot section of brick and mortar that fell. There’s no word what caused it to collapse. Fortunately no one was injured.
