Erick Lamont Jones Jr., 24, was taken into custody, Wednesday evening. He is being chared with 1st degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

Dispatchers say they received a call for shots fired just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the area of Penrith Lane, off Campbell Road near Warwick Boulevard.

A police spokesperson says when officers arrived on scene they located the victim, who they have identified as 23-year-old Kashawn Cummings.

“I don’t understand how an argument or disagreement can turn into killing somebody and ruining other people’s lives,” said Carol Pridgen. “You think you can shoot people and kill them and you are going to have a happy life afterwards. It doesn’t work like that. You are going to be miserable for the rest of your life.”
