Police make quick arrest in Portsmouth 7-Eleven robbery

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives in Portsmouth made a quick arrest after a Monday night robbery.

Police say a suspect entered the 7-Eleven store at 4001 Greenwood Drive, implied he had a gun and demanded money.

Dispatchers received the call about the incident at 11:13 p.m.

Officers responding to the area spotted a man matching the suspect’s description and took him into custody. Detectives charged 51-year-old Robert H. Elliott of Portsmouth with robbery and he is currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office.
