HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Sheriff’s Office, Hampton University students and the Drug Enforcement Administration collected 51 pounds of medication during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
On October 22, 28 people dropped off their potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Drug Take Back Day is aimed at preventing pill abuse and theft.
During the 12th National Take Back Initiative, 127 agencies participated at 174 different collection sites. 23,270 pounds of medication was collected overall.
