VSP investigating shooting on interstate in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help after four people were shot at on I-64 eastbound at Pine Chapel Road early Sunday morning.

Virginia State Police were dispatched around 1:00 a.m. to where the victims car had stopped, in the area of 42nd Street in Newport News.

A 2005 Lexus was traveling eastbound on I-64 when a dark burgundy car pulled up beside the driver’s side and fired shots at the vehicle. Troopers determined the car had been shot multiple times.

The adult male driver of the Lexus and two of the three adult male passengers were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. One victim had life-threatening injuries. The fourth passenger was not hurt.
