Coast Guard medvacs man after boat hits the shore

NORFOLK, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a boat that hit the Little Creek Jetty in Norfolk Saturday evening.

Watchstanders at Station Little Creek were notified at approximately 6:35 p.m. of a 24-foot boat that ran into the east side of the Little Creek Jetty with two people on board.

One passenger suffered injuries to his face and arm. Two members of the Coast Guard Response Boat-Medium boarded the boat and assisted the man into a stokes litter.

The man was taken to Vinings Landing Marina, where medics transferred him to Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk.
