Bertie County voters approve liquor referendum

WINDSOR, N.C. (WAVY) – Bertie County voters approved the liquor referendum nearly by a 2-to-1 margin during the November 8 election.

The referendum will now allow the county’s Alcohol Beverage Control Board to issue permits to businesses who want to serve mixed, alcoholic beverages, or liquor-by-the-drink.

In unofficial results, the measure passed 5,596 to 2,765, and voters approved it in 11 of the county’s 12 precincts.
