Police investigating after veteran’s moped is stolen

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Police are investigating after a local veteran’s moped was stolen from outside of his Norfolk home.

Jon Moore, who served in the Army Special Forces, told 10 On Your Side that the scooter was his only means of getting to and from his job.

“I’m at a loss of what to do at this point.”

He parked the scooter outside of his residence on West 37th Street Saturday night. When he woke up Sunday, it was gone.

Moore suffers from PTSD and is a cancer survivor. He said he can’t afford to buy a new moped.

“Now that it’s gone, it’s made things really difficult for me,” he said. “It just seems like everything’s not really going that well, you know, it’s kind of like having the world crash around you in increments.”

Moore’s boss contacted 10 On Your Side for help.

“It touched me, it touched me a lot,” Moore said. “I would never ask anyone for anything.”
