Man hit by a vehicle near a hospital in Gloucester

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester Friday.

Dispatchers say the accident happened on Hospital Drive. The southbound lanes of Route 17  were closed for a period of time and traffic was redirected.

According to Virginia State Police, Michael Scott Roberts of Gloucester was crossing Route 17, not at an intersection, when he was struck by a 2003 Ford Taurus.

The driver was found to be not at fault and will not face charges as a result.

Roberts was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
