SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An early morning fire at a Suffolk home displaced a family of six, according to fire officials.

Suffolk fire officials say crews were called to an area around Finney Avenue and Hill Street just before 5 a.m. A neighbor alerted responding crews to the fire, which was actually at a home on Oakdale Terrace.

Crews reportedly saw light smoke pouring out of the house upon arrival. Occupants of the home were evacuating when firefighters arrived.

Officials say the fire was contained to a small room at the front of the home. The fire was under control around 5:40 a.m.

The fire, which officials say was electrical in nature, caused smoke damage to the home.
