Suffolk man to serve 30 years for distribution of heroin resulting in death

Carlos A. Brown

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Suffolk man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Wednesday for distribution of heroin resulting in death.

46-year-old Carlos A. Brown pleaded guilty to the charge in July.

Court documents say Brown sold heroin from his Portsmouth home from June 2015 to November 2015. On November 8, 2015, Brown called one buyer, describing the potency of his heroin as a “missile.”

Prosecutors say Brown was aware that several people who he sold heroin to had overdosed, yet he sought to get more of the same batch of heroin. On November 21, 2015, 27-year-old Ryan Wilson, of Chesapeake, was found dead after having used Brown’s heroin.

Even after learning of Wilson’s death, Brown continued selling heroin.

A law enforcement team made four controlled purchases of heroin and fentanyl from Brown before they arrested him on April 21.
