CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Four people were hurt after a suspect crashed a car early Tuesday morning during a chase with police in Chesapeake.

Police say officers were called to Greentree Commons at 2:50 a.m. after it was reported that a suspects was breaking into cars. The suspects had fled the area before officers arrived.

Officers later found a suspected car — based on a witness description — at a 7-Eleven on Military Highway and Georgetown Boulevard. The driver refused to stop, leading police on a chase on Interstate 464.

The driver crashed the car after losing control exiting I-464 onto Poindexter Street. Police say there was no property damage, but the driver and three passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

The car had been reported stolen out of Virginia Beach, police say. Officers recovered items that had been taken from vehicle larcenies.

One the suspects is 18-years-old, while the three others are juveniles.

Police say an investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
