NORFOLK (WAVY) – Bobby Wilder said his team could not have been more focused leading up to Saturday night’s matchup against Marshall. Having been handily beaten by the Thundering Herd in two previous meetings, the Monarchs were not deterred, but rather determined to reach win number six, and accomplish something that had been seven years in the making.
“We’ve never had a week like we had this week,” Wilder said after his team thumped the Thundering Herd 38-14 in front of another sold out crowd at SB Ballard Stadium. The win means the Monarchs are bowl eligible for the first time in program history.
“I can’t state how important this is that this happened at home,” said Wilder. “This might be the most complete game we’ve ever played; on the biggest stage, in the biggest moment we’ve ever played, and to make history, that makes it more special.”
