Crews battle heavy flames at Virginia Beach home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Firefighters extinguished heavy flames in a garage at a home early Saturday morning.

They responded to the 5300 block of Bosworth Road in Kempsville around 12:45 a.m. and found heavy flames in the garage of a one-story home.

Crews got the fire under control within 15 minutes, but the home suffered significant fire and smoke damage, according to Battalion Chief Brian Sullivan.

Everyone had gotten out of the house by the time firefighters arrived, but one occupant had to be treated by Virginia Beach EMS.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
