Video: Suspect robs Newport News 7-Eleven at gunpoint

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are looking to identify the person who robbed a 7-Eleven at gunpoint in the early morning hours of Wednesday.

The person in the surveillance footage entered the 7-Eleven at at Oyster Point Road and Jefferson Avenue, and demanded the clerk open the cash register.

Video released Thursdays shows the suspect — who appears to be armed with a hand gun — taking cash out of the register, before walking out of the store.

Police say the suspect also demanded employees to open the store’s safe. He left after being told they did not have access.

The suspected robber is described as a thinly-built, dark-skinned male.
