SOUTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A Southampton County court granted bond to a caretaker accused in the death of a disabled woman.

Keshia Freeman, 36, is charged with first-degree murder and abuse and neglect in the March death of 23-year-old Shaquille Hall.

Deputies: Caretaker murdered Suffolk woman with cerebral palsy

Hall had cerebral palsy. Deputies said an autopsy shows she died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, with contributing death factors of a drug overdose, starvation, dehydration and battery.

Investigators said Freeman is to blame for the death, which the medical examiner ruled a homicide.

Freeman has a pre-trial hearing set for February. Her jury trial is scheduled for June 26.
