Suspect in Elizabeth City double shooting arrested, charged

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — Elizabeth City police arrested a suspect Thursday in a shooting that injured two men.

21-year-old Marquis Dahve Whidbee, of the 400 block of Tatem Lane, Elizabeth City, was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.

Two men taken to hospital after Elizabeth City shooting

On Wednesday evening, officers found two men laying on the ground in the 800 block of Walker Avenue. Both had gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital.

Whidbee was taken to the Albemarle District Jail and has a $100,000 secured bond.

Elizabeth City police are still investigating and following up on other leads.
