On September 9, a man who appeared to be posing as an undercover police officer entered Mary Calcott Elementary School, refused to show an ID when asked and left. The man reportedly claimed he needed to conduct a security check at the school.

Four days later, officers were called to St. Pius X Catholic School for a call about a suspicious person. An employee recognized the man from a photo issued by police of the suspect who entered Mary Calcott.

She called 911 while another employee talked to Overton.

Overton was taken to the Police Operations Center for questioning, and an investigation confirmed he was the same man who went into Mary Calcott.
