RICHMOND, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles experienced a statewide outage of its computer system for a short time Wednesday.
DMV spokesperson Brandi Brubaker says DMV offices were still open during the outage, but it prevented them from making transactions with customers.
According to Brubaker, their system went down shortly before 11 a.m. She noted before noon that their system was back up.
A spokesperson from the Virginia Information Technologies Agency released a statement, which reads in full:
There was a brief interruption of some information technology infrastructure services this morning. DMV was impacted. VITA took immediate steps to work with our provider to identify and correct the issue and services were restored before noon. At this time, we have nothing further to report.”
