Counting Kindness – Free Rides to the Polls for Seniors & Sudents Helping Students

free-rides

For some seniors, getting to the polls to vote is a challenge. That’s why Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia and the Peninsula Agency on Aging have teamed up with a local cab company to make sure those over 60 can vote Tuesday, November 8. Yellow Cab on the Peninsula and Black and White Cabs on the Southside are giving free rides to seniors on election day to their polling place. Rides must be scheduled by Monday, November 7. Register by calling 757-963-9218 or 757-222-4513.

Also, many families are still out of their homes because of damage left behind by Hurricane Matthew. Landstown Middle and Green Run Elementary have been collecting school supplies and food for families along with coins to purchase gift cards. If you would like to help or find out more, call 757-263-2000.
