Benefit concert planned for Windsor, Waypoint residents affected by Matthew

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Windsor Woods community in Virginia Beach was one of many across Hampton Roads that was hit hard by Hurricane Matthew in early October.

Many residents of the Waypoint Apartments in Virginia Beach were told in late October that their leases would be terminated. The complex was flooded during Matthew, which forced residents to leave.

The situation has left some residents unsure of what to do next, while others have found housing options.

A benefit concert has been scheduled for Saturday to benefit Windsor and Waypoint residents. All proceeds going to Hotel Kids, which is an organization that says it helps homeless children and their families.

Saturday’s event is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 505 S. Independence Boulevard.
