GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) – An 84-year-old man is being treated for minor injuries after being carried inside a garbage bin to the trash company’s sorting yard.

Gresham Police Officer Adam Baker says it appears the man was sleeping inside the dumpster somewhere in northeast Gresham. The dumpster was picked up during routine operations and was carried to a sorting facility in the 2100 block of Northwest Birdsdale Avenue.

As the driver was entering the facility, he began to hear the man’s screams for help.

Police and firefighters responded and were able to free the man.

He was transported to Mt. Hood Medical Center for lower back pain, according to police.

Attempts to reach the sanitation company have been unsuccessful.
