VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Demolition is underway at the Mayfair Mews apartment complex on Birdneck Road.

Chopper 10 flew above the complex and got video of crews working to knock down and clear the site.

In April 2012, a Navy F-18 jet crashed into the apartments. Many referred to the incident as a a “Good Friday miracle,” because no one was killed in the crash, including the flight crew.

Earlier this year, the developer and management company of Mayfair Mews, Covington and Associates, sent a notice to residents saying they must move out by July 31.

After demolition, the complex may be redeveloped at some point in the near future. 10 On Your Side is working to learn more about what will be built next.
