NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Sharp surveillance video of a man creeping outside a home in Larchmont has neighbors concerned for their safety.
The one-minute long surveillance clip shows what appears to be a young white man with a glove on his right hand and tattoos on his chest and back approaching the home before standing idle next to the front door.
Nate Kinnoson says it was just after midnight Saturday morning when his wife locked eyes with the suspect as he looked in the front door of their home. Kinnoson says he then proceeded to knock on the front door from the inside to scare the suspect away.
“The safety of my family is at stake. Lord knows what would happen if he broke in,” said Kinnoson, who has lived in the neighborhood for about a year.
At least least five neighbors reported suspicious activity online in the hours after the suspect lurked around Kinnoson’s porch. Some neighbors reported on NextDoor that they saw the same man. Other neighbors wrote that an unknown person knocked on their front door in the middle of the night as late as 2 a.m.
A spokeswoman for the Norfolk Police Department says many of the complaints online appear to have gone unreported.
“You don’t have to be paranoid and react negatively, but if something is bothering you in the middle of the night, call the police,” said Kevin Rice on Studeley Avenue.
Police say they are investigating the incident at Kinnoson’s home as trespassing, and they are asking any other potential victims to call the Crimeline at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
