Kroger buys land in Chesapeake for new store

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Kroger Limited Partnership I bought more than 16 acres of land at at Dominion Boulevard and Cedar Road in Chesapeake to build a new store, according to S.L. Nusbaum Realty Co.

The realty says the land sold for $8,224,160.

A new shopping center, Dominion Commons, will house the new 124,000 square foot Kroger Marketplace. The store is expected to generate $1,000,000 per year in tax revenue for the city and bring hundreds of jobs.

The store will have groceries, general merchandise, health and beauty, a pharmacy section, jewelry and a fuel center.

It’s not clear yet when the store will open to shoppers.
