Hampton man shot in armed robbery; suspect wanted on multiple charges

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A 20-year-old man is being sought by Hampton police for a shooting during an armed robbery that sent one person to the hospital.

Officers were called to the first block of Derby Drive around 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, according to police.

A 21-year-old man was found suffering from a single gunshot wound, and was taken to a hospital with injuries classified as non life-threatening.

Police say two suspects, one of whom knew the victim, went to the victim’s house and demanded his property at gunpoint. The 21-year-old was shot after a physical altercation broke out inside the home.

Both suspects ran from the scene before police arrived.

One of the suspects, 20-year-old Paris Javon Cooper is wanted on three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, one count of robbery, one count of maiming and one count of abduction.

Police haven’t said if the second suspect in this case has been identified.
