EL PASO, TX (WAVY) – With the outcome still very much up for grabs at halftime, Old Dominion rode the back of Ray Lawry, who churned out 131 yards and two touchdowns for a 31-21 win at Texas El-Paso.

The Miners managed to take a 13-10 lead after their first drive of the second half, but David Washington showed off steady poise, connecting on 14 of 22 passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns. His second strike of the night, a 15-yarder to Melvin Vaugh on the first drive of the second half, gave the Monarchs (5-3, 3-1 Conference USA) the lead for good.

On just the second play of the fourth quarter, Lawry took it the distance, breaking tackles for a 40-yard touchdown run that seemingly gave the Monarchs every bit of momentum.

ODU is now just one win away from becoming bowl eligible for the first time in school history. They’ll try and grab that historic win when Marshall heads to Norfolk next weekend.
