VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man is behind bars after police arrested him in connection to the death of a family pet.
According to police, they were called to a home in the 1600 block of Cutty Sark Road to assist a citizen. Police say the caller stated 21-year-old Curtis Kinzey killed the family pet. Officers arrived and found Kinzey and the deceased cat.
According to Kinzey’s arrest warrant, he told officers he fed the cat poison before choking it and dumping in the garbage, where officers found the animal.
The arrest warrant also states Kinzey had been drinking and was not taking his prescribed medication.
Documents state that Kinzey committed a Class 6 felony and will have a hearing on December 15. He’s currently being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility without bond.
