Newport News man will serve 7 years in child sexual assault case

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A Newport News man will serve seven years in prison for a case involving the sexual assault of a child.

32-year-old Danon Crawley was arrested on charges of abduction with intent to defile, rape, sodomy and aggravated sexual battery with a child.

On Wednesday, Crawley pleaded guilty to two charges of taking indecent liberties with children. Both charges together carry a 20 year sentence but 13 will be suspended.

Newport News Police say the alleged crimes happened in 2012.

Crawley will begin four years of supervised probation once he is released.
