On the Ballot: Poquoson Mayor

The Poquoson City Council consists of seven members, including the mayor, who are elected by the voters and serve four-year terms. Elections are held in even numbered years on the 1st Tuesday in November. This year’s General Election is November 8, 2016. Any Poquoson resident who is at least 18 years of age, is a United States citizen and a resident of Virginia is eligible to be a candidate for election. W. Eugene Hunt, Jr. is Poquoson’s current mayor. His term expires at the end of this year. He faces one challenger this election, Brandon Cross.

According to the Virginia State Board of Elections, Eugene Hunt has won two elections unopposed. In the 2012 election, Hunt received 6,061 votes.
