Employee of Virginia BBQ in Isle of Wight attacked in parking lot

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — An employee of Virginia BBQ in Isle of Wight County reported an assault Tuesday to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities say around 9:18 p.m., the employee was closing the restaurant, located in the 13000 block of Carrollton Boulevard, and was walking to her car. She had parked behind the building. The employee heard a noise coming from near a dumpster at the back of the restaurant. She investigated and didn’t find anything out of the ordinary, and continued walking toward her car when she was attacked and assaulted, the sheriff’s office says. The employee struggled with the attacker, but managed to break free. The suspect ran away, possible toward the 7-Eleven store on Carrollton Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect was a man, around 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 190 pounds. He was wearing dark-colored clothing and a dark-colored mask or hoodie covered his face.

The employee was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center and was released Wednesday morning.
