Chesapeake man caught with loaded gun at Norfolk International Airport

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man from Chesapeake was caught trying to carry a loaded handgun onto a plane at the Norfolk International Airport Tuesday.

The man was stopped by TSA officers at the checkpoint after an X-ray machine detected a firearm as it passed along the conveyor belt inside the man’s carry on bag. He had a 9 mm caliber handgun that was loaded with 15 bullets. He also had ammunition and two magazines with 43 additional bullets.

TSA officers immediately contacted the Norfolk Airport Authority Police, which responded to the checkpoint.

The man was questioned and cited by the police.
