VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — VDOT is holding an information meeting in Virginia Beach to discuss planned improvements for the I-64/I-264 ramp.

Right now, there is frequently heavy congestion from Interstate 64 west to Interstate 264 east at the I-64/I-264 interchange.

To improve traffic in the area, a second exit lane will be added on I-64 west, and the ramp from westbound I-64 to eastbound I-264 will be widened, introducing a new two-lane collector-distributor roadway from I-64 to the Newtown Road interchange, and a new two-lane flyover ramp from westbound I-64 that ties into the existing eastbound I-264 collector-distributor road.

$107M to go toward improving ramp from I-64W to I-264E in Va. Beach

Collector-distributor roads help move traffic from local streets to major roads.

You can learn more about the project and community impacts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, at Arrowhead Elementary School, 5549 Susquehanna Drive.
