Scott was raised on the Delmarva Peninsula in a little hamlet named Hebron in Maryland.

An accomplished wrestler in high school, after graduation Scott wanted to serve his country so he joined the Navy. He signed up to join one of the most feared fighting forces in the world, the Navy SEALS. After completing the six-month BUD/S training course in Coronado, California, Scott was assigned to SEAL Team 4 and served in the United States and Latin America, where he learned a fluency in Spanish.
Scott re-enlisted in the Navy after 9/11. In 2005, Scott was sent to Baghdad/Ramadi as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Scott served as a Navy SEAL sniper. Scott was severely injured while on a combat mission and was Medevac’d out of Iraq to Germany, then eventually back to the States.

As a member of the House, Scott has been a successful legislator on issues important to families. His legislative accomplishments include matters dealing with energy, workforce and veterans issues.
Scott Taylor is the only veteran running for Congress in our Second Congressional District. He knows the responsibility and pride of wearing the nation’s uniform and the incredible sadness of burying great friends and comrades and listening to “Amazing Grace” being played by bagpipes at their funerals. He knows how to keep the promise to the veterans, military retirees and their families and they must always be treated with dignity.
Since 1998, Scott Taylor has lived in the Second District. He has invested here, worshipped here, been elected to public office from here and participated in numerous charitable organizations here.

Shaun Brown is an economist, management consultant, small business owner and a champion for voters in Virginia who are tired of politics as usual. As the Democratic candidate for Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District, Shaun is ready to put her business experience and academic achievements to work for all Virginians.
Shaun is a graduate of Brown University, the London School of Economics, and St. Hilda’s College, Oxford University. She was elected president of the student body at Brown, becoming the first African- American in the Ivy League and the first female and youngest to hold the position at Brown. She also studied at MIT and the University of Virginia.
Shaun’s background as a seasoned entrepreneur began in college with an ice cream truck business and continued with the formation of a global export management firm representing American business interests in places such as Gambia, Belarus, Russia, Venezula and Colombia.
Shaun’s training as an economist has given her a broad, inclusive perspective on the economic challenges that Virginia and the rest of the country face today. She understands that we can protect Social Security and Medicare, promote energy independence, maintain military readiness, and support our Veterans without crippling the middle class with an unfair share of economic responsibty for our country’s future.
Born in Newport News, the Hampton High School Crabber and a long-time community activist, Shaun understands Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore, and she will bring meaningful, progressive change to the United States Congress. As a Democrat, she understands her role as the chief economic development officer for the 2nd District, and she has a solid economic platform that addresses our challenges. She knows that our current economic recovery is simply not sustainable if it doesn’t include everyone. It’s hard to separate her business career, community activism and political commitment in fighting for the 2nd district.Shaun is the choice of change, and her campaign slogan isn’t just feel-good sentiment. It is a shorthand expression of the lessons she has learned as an economist and entrepreneur: We can truly prosper only when we rise together.
