NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police arrested and charged a man for an alleged abduction and burglary.

At 5:08 p.m. on October 22, officers responded to a home on Dean Ray Court for a reported weapons offense. The victim, a 29-year-old Newport News man and his 30-year-old wife, told police they were in the home when a man they both knew, Miguel Hernandez, came in through the front door with a gun and demanded money.

Police say Hernandez then forced the victim into his car, taking him to an address in the 100 block of Lyttle Drive. Officers found the suspect vehicle at the address and took Hernandez into custody. He’s been charged with abduction by force, intimidation or deception, brandishing a firearm, misdemeanor assault and burglary.
