Man trying to cross road in Suffolk hit by vehicle

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle on Portsmouth Boulevard in Suffolk Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a call at 8:38 p.m.

Police say a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Pourtsmouth Boulevard (Route 58) when it hit a man trying to cross the road just past the intersection of Suburban Drive. The driver stayed on the scene.

The victim was taken to the Hampton Roads Regional Airport on Route 58. From there, he was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are still investigating.
