Man critically hurt in robbery, assault in Newport News


NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was taken to hospital Saturday afternoon with severe injuries after being robbed by two men in Newport News.

Police say they were called to Forest Drive around 1:40 p.m. for a report of a Hispanic man bleeding from his face in an apartment breezeway.

Paramedics on scene saw a large amount of blood inside the breezeway, and followed a trail of blood to find a 54-year-old man with severe swelling on the right side of his face.

This man was reportedly vomiting and spitting up large amount blood. It was determined that he was robbed and assaulted by two black males.

Police say he was not able to provide detailed descriptions of suspects. The man’s cellphone and $150 were taken during the incident.

He was taken to a local hospital and is said to be in critical condition.
