Active shooter exercise beginning at Fort Eustis today

FORT EUSTIS, Va. (WAVY) — Fort Eustis is beginning an active shooter drill today, which is expected to last all week.

Officials say the drill is being conducted to help ensure the security of soldiers, civilians and contractors working at the installation.

Residents around Fort Eustis may hear simulated rounds being fired during the exercise. The drills have been designed to evaluate Fort Eustis personnel’s response to active shooter situation.

The exercise is scheduled to be held from Oct. 24 through Oct. 28.
