Providence Elementary students report bus stop incident

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Two children reported an incident at their bus stop Friday morning.

The incident involved two Providence Elementary School students, but happened near Kempsville Middle School, so the principal there sent a message to parents Friday informing them of what happened. According to the call from Dr. Patti Jenkins, the students were at their bus stop on Marlborough Drive when a blue pickup truck approached and the driver motioned for the students to come closer.

She said the driver reportedly never got out of the truck and didn’t speak to the students. As a precaution, police were notified and the department is adding an extra patrol car in the neighborhood at dismissal time Friday.
