Coast Guard rescues man on sailboat in Mobjack Bay

MILFORD HAVEN, Va. (WAVY) — Sector Hampton Roads Coast Guard crews rescued a man Wednesday evening who was on a sailboat and reported having chest pains.

The 46-year-old man was on a 37-foot sailboat in Mobjack Bay when around 6 p.m. it was reported that he was having chest pains. Crews arrived at 7:15 p.m., and the man was later sent to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester.

“Thanks to our crew’s constant training and familiarity with the local waterways we were able to get him the medical attention he needed,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Jason Shapiro, officer on duty at Station Milford Haven.
