Coast Guard medevacs man off fishing vessel near Oregon Inlet, NC

OREGON INLET, N.C. (WAVY) – The Coast Guard medevaced a 22-year-old man off a fishing vessel three miles east of Oregon Inlet Thursday.

Sector North Carolina watchstanders say they notified Station Oregon Inlet around 2 p.m. about a man who was vomiting and had lower back pains.

Station Oregon Inlet launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew, which arrived on scene around 2:11 p.m. The crew got the man aboard and arrived at Station Oregon Inlet at about 2:27 p.m., where local EMS was waiting.

“We were glad the fishing vessel was in such close proximity to our station,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Travis Green, officer on duty for the case. “It aided the case, as did the quick arrival of our local partner EMS personnel.”
