VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Police are searching for two men wanted for robbing an elderly man in Virginia Beach.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, the 87-year-old victim was unloading groceries from his vehicle in the 900 block of Campion Court. While walking to his door, a man assaulted him and then took his belongings. The suspect yelled to another man before they both ran away.
The man — who didn’t want to say his name for safety reasons — spoke to 10 On Your Side’s Joe Fisher, and said the alleged attack happened as he carried three bottles of milk and other groceries from his car to his home.
“I couldn’t move because I had all of this stuff in my arms. I got knocked down. Once he got my wallet, he said, ‘I got it,'” the victim said. “What upsets you is that you never expect it. I never expected anything.”
The victim had minor injuries.
Police described the first suspect as a black man with a dark complexion between 18 and 20-years-old and standing at about 6 feet tall. He had tattoos on his arm and was wearing a black hoodie.
The second suspect is described as a white man, around 5 feet 10 inches tall, between the ages of 18 and 20. He was wearing a gray hoodie and red shoes.
Neighbors say they saw two young men walking down the street joking around before one of them started running toward the victim.
“My wife and I came out of the garage. I started running and yelling,” one neighbor said. “By that time, they were already on their way up the street.”
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information about the identity of the suspects is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
