Police seek five suspects in Chesapeake home invasion

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Police are searching for five suspects after a home invasion in Chesapeake Monday night.

At about 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a trailer at 1100 South Military Highway, lot 87 for a reported home invasion.

According to police, five suspects wearing all black clothing approached the first victim, Albert Equils, outside the mobile home and assaulted him.

“One of them grabbed me by my arm and pointed a gun at me. I tried to push the gun off him and we fell off the porch,” Equils told 10 On Your Side.

The suspects then went into the trailer, where they assaulted the second victim, Keith Mixon. While inside the trailer, two of the five suspects held Mixon and Equil’s mother, Denise Bancroft at gunpoint.

“They held my mom at gunpoint and pretty much beat the crap out of my buddy and pistol whipped him,” Equils said.

The suspects stole a wallet from Equils and a purse from Bancroft.

Still shaken up during our interview Tuesday, Bancroft explained what happened inside.

“They all ran in and said all of you to the ground or we’ll shoot you,” she said.

“He said, ‘Lay down now.’ He said, ‘Lay down flat.’ I laid down and he had a gun on the back of my spine,” she continued. “He flipped my bed up, they stormed through the house and I don’t know what they were looking for.”

Equils showed 10 On Your Side his scars. He says Mixon was treated and released from the hospital for cuts to his head.

The whole ordeal is enough for this family. Equils said after eight years, they’re planning to move.

“I’ve already had a lot of incidents out here and this trailer park gets crazy every now and then like I’m just ready to get out of here,” he said.

Police say the suspects then left in a gold-colored sedan.
