Norfolk firefighters respond to residential fire in Lindenwood area

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Firefighters extinguished a fire in the kitchen of a duplex in the Lindenwood section of the city early Sunday morning.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue crews responded to the home in the 2500 block of Middle Avenue around 3:30 a.m. and found heavy smoke in the kitchen, according to Battalion Chief Brian Nichols.

Three adults living in the home escaped unharmed before firefighters arrived. The Red Cross is assisting them.

Crews had the fire under control within 10 minutes. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
