Two Norfolk men arrested in deadly 2015 shooting

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly 2015 shooting.

On May 24, 2015, 25-year-old Felix Smallwood was found lying outside a home in the 700 block with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Norfolk Police Department’s Cold Case Unit continued investigating Smallwood’s death. Earlier this week, detectives took out felony charges against two Norfolk men.

21-year-old Rakim Nottingham, of the 2900 block of Kimball Terrace, and 22-year-old Dashawn Medley, of the 1200 block of Reservoir Avenue, have both been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. They were taken into custody without incident.

Nottingham is currently being detained in Virginia Beach, while Dashawn Medley is behind bars at the Norfolk City Jail. Both men are being held without bond.

Medley has a trial set for Dec. 5, 2017. Nottingham is scheduled to be in court for a pre-trial hearing on Dec. 4, 2017.
