Fire destroys vacant Chesapeake home

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A fire destroyed a vacant home in the 2700 block of Derry Drive Friday night.

Dispatchers received a call about the fire at 7:48 p.m. Firefighters arrived on scene at 7:55 p.m. to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story home. The blaze was marked under control at 8:18 p.m.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
