Portsmouth City School bus involved in crash

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A Portsmouth City School bus and a truck collided at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and George Washington Highway Wednesday evening.

Dispatchers received a call about the accident at 5:09 p.m. Cherise Newsome with Portsmouth Public Schools says an SUV apparently rear-ended the bus.

The activity bus was carrying nine students on the volleyball team. The bus had left from Cradock Middle School and was taking the students home when the crash happened.

Parents of students were notified to come to the scene. The students were evaluated on scene by medics, and they were all released to their family at the scene.

The bus suffered minor damage.
