Homicide investigation underway after man found shot outside Hampton home

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Hampton police are investigating a homicide after someone found a man lying on the ground Wednesday morning outside of a home near Peterborough Drive.

Police tweeted about the investigation early Wednesday morning. Dispatchers say a call came in shortly after 6:30 a.m. about a shooting at Peterborough Drive and Micklebring Lane. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying in the front yard of a home with multiple gunshot wounds.

WAVY’s Lex Gray reports that the man was pronounced dead at the scene. A person leaving their house Wednesday said they saw the man lying on the ground and called police.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

This is the second homicide investigation officers have responded to within eight hours in the Hampton area. Hampton and Newport News police are both investigating after a man was shot and killed on Pine Avenue.
